Every McKenzie home starts on your land and with your plans. Since 1977 we have built across Manatee, Sarasota and Hillsborough counties for families who intend to stay a while. We keep our schedule deliberately small, because the difference between a good home and a great one is attention, and attention does not scale.

The Family Behind McKenzie
McKenzie Homes was founded in 1977 by T.K. McKenzie on a simple premise: build a home the way you would build your own, and stand behind it afterward.
Nearly fifty years later the company is still family owned and still building in the same three counties. The trades we work with have been with us for decades, which is the quiet reason a McKenzie home comes together the way it does.
We take on a limited number of homes each year so that every one of them gets the attention it was promised.

McKenzie Homes is a small, family-owned custom home builder dedicated to homes that reflect the unique vision of each client we serve. In the nearly fifty years we have been building across Manatee, Sarasota, and Hillsborough counties, we have never built the same house twice, and we take pride in a personal, hands-on experience through every phase of the build.
What sets us apart is our commitment to consistency and quality craftsmanship. We work with the same trusted subcontractors on every project, professionals who share our standards, attention to detail, and pride, some of them for nearly 30 years. That long-standing collaboration lets us hold exceptional quality, clear communication, and dependable timelines from start to finish.
For us, a home is more than a project. It is a partnership, and one of the most important investments our clients will ever make. As a full-service builder, we manage every stage in-house, from the initial site work to the final finishing touches, delivering homes that are thoughtfully built, expertly crafted, and tailored to each client’s vision, without compromising on quality at any stage.

We walk your lot with you and talk through what you want, what you want to spend, and what the site will actually allow.

We turn that into plans, whether you start from one of our floor plans or from a blank sheet of paper.

You choose finishes, fixtures and materials with us before we break ground, so the budget is settled before it can move.

Construction
We build it with the trades we have worked with for years, supervised on site, with you updated as it goes up.

Handover
We walk the finished home with you, hand over the keys, and the ten year warranty starts that day.
